Traditional Holistic Remedies & Therapies For Cancer

It is estimated that 187,600 new cancer cases will be diagnosed in Canada not including cases involving skin cancer. The number of new cancer cases in Canada will continue to rise steadily with population growth and ageing. Nearly 88% of new cancer cases and 95% of cancer related deaths in Canada will occur among people aged 50 and older.

Cancer is the leading cause of death in Canada and is responsible for about 30% of all deaths.



Cancer has become a common illness that can be beaten and improved through Holistic ways of Ayurveda.  

Cancer cells begin to reproduce without control, it may continue to divide until a lump or tumor(s) form. In some situations tumors which are auspicious can be removed while other tumors can spread and become cancerous. Wayne Dyer’s cancer journey has taken him from initial disbelief to a place of acceptance & love, most incredibly at 73 he is living with cancer and feeling better than ever. After reading Wayne's stories about his journey it inspired me even more to continue writing this blog topic. 

This topic has significance to me, I have lost someone to cancer, have a close friend fighting and hope to help someone overcome it, so I wanted to share some vital information on cancer in hopes it will help people gain some faith, find a higher level of consciouness & recover. Many people may have their doubts or wonder how the natural ways of Ayurveda can be beneficial to such a deadly illness, but if you have some hope, please continue reading.

Some Causes Of Cancer:

*Inheritance
*Lack of vitamin/minerals/enzymes
*Use of chemicals(household,gas,paints,cleaners,varnish, pesticides)
*High Acidic levels
*Low enzyme levels
*Regular use of prescribed medications(destroys our organs, destroys our gut bacteria
*Smoking, drug & alcohol use
*Environmental toxins
*Improper treatment if women have Leukorrhea,Syphilis
*Unhealthy Lifestyle & Diet
*Stress
*Lack of exercise & sleep
*Negative thinking & surroundings
*No proper discretion of wastes from the body
*Injuries which may result in a mass of blood forming
*Regularly wearing High Heel shoes, when thighs constantly rub together, it can cause an infection and later lead to cancer
*During  Menstruation: Using pads, un-hygienic clothing, tight synthetic clothing. Loose cotton is best

How Diseases Appear In Ayurveda:

In Ayurveda Cancer disease involves all 3 doshas: Kapha, Pitta & Vata mainly with one being predominant. The types of Cancer most likely to appear in the body can be different depending on your dominant dosha. For example I will describe Kapha below.
Kapha dominant cancers are related to tiredness, congestion, excessive sleeping and salivation to name a few. In most cases begin tumors appear then later on become malignant. Related Kapha cancers: Lung & Breast.
Ayurveda describes every disease developing in four main stages:

Chayavastha(stage one): The doshas are agitated by an unhealthy or unnatural way of living, unfavorable climatic situations, poor digestion & production of Ama(digestive toxins,poison), emotional imbalances such as fear, jealousy, anger, greed, depression & mania. As a result of this, therefore the doshas get disturbed.

Prakopavastha(stage two): The main disturbed dosha concentrates and grows in a certain part of the body
Prasar(stage three): The disturbed dosha leaves the basis & pervades the whole body

Sthana-samskriya(Stage Four): The disturbed dosha moves towards weaker parts of the body, settles there & therefore causes a poisoning effect & disease.

Symptoms:

* Weak digestive fire, body weakness, change in stool and urine, lumps or tumors forming, unusual discharge or blood coming from any part of the body, sores that won’t heal, nagging cough, lack of appetite, coughing up blood etc

Diagnosis Of Cancer:

·         Physical Examinations,X-rays, Ct Scan, Cat Scan, MRI, Ultrasound, Biopsy, Lab Testing(blood,urine,cough etc), prognosis, acupressure to name some

Ayurvedic Treatments:

Ayurveda follows two different methods of treatment: 
Panchakarma,consists of 5 detoxification processes which are Emesis, Purgation,Enema & Douching. This will cleanse the body of toxins and harmonize the unbalanced doshas. 

The second method is suggesting herbs, decoctions & following a healthy diet & lifestyle. Each individual is unique, so each person would be guided differently. It is very important after a good cleansing, the body goes through revitalization to enhance the immune system and build up endurance. You may ask a health care consultant for further information.

How to Enhance Optimal Health With Herbs:


*Triphala: carries anti-cancer properties, detoxifies and improves the digestive system, builds the immune system, favors Kapha dosha
*Tulsi(Holy Basil): Another miracle herb I absolutely love. Tulsi boosts the immune system, fights respiratory disease, alleviates the side effects of radiotherapy & chemotherapy, great anti-oxidant
*Turmeric(haldhi): To be taken twice a day in warm milk. Turmeric naturally cleanses the liver, taken with cauliflower it fights prostate cancer, reduces chances of childhood leukemia, natural pain killer, carries anti-cancer properties & favors Kapha Pitta & Vata dosha
*Aloe Vera: Slows down & may stop growth of tumors, cleanses the blood, reduces pain & inflammation, halts colon cancer, it heals & lubricates the intestines and digestive tract
*Ashokarishta: For female genital cancers, favors Pitta dosha
*Manjishtha Powder & Neem: Cleanses and detoxes the blood, good for skin cancers. Can be taken orally and applied on the skin
*Bhumyamalaki powder & Arogyavardhini: Helps to fight liver cancer and skin cancer
*Kaishore Guggul & Coriander: Fights Liver and Breast cancer, cleanses away heavy toxins, favors Vata dosha
*Shilajit: This is an amazing form of rock for general health of any person. Improves weakness, detoxes, anti aging, rejuvenates, fights anaemia, improves reproductive organs, digestion, reduces stress and anxiety
*Fenugreek(Methi): Very effective for fighting breast, bone and prostate cancer
*Punarnava(Hogweed): Carries many benefits, but fights cancer and Aids
*Dandelion: Great antioxidant fighting against luekemia
*Gotu Kola: Aids in fighting cancer cells, rejuvenates & purifies the blood, favours Pitta dosha

Other Guidelines:

  • Take a multi vitamin in any case for good health. Make sure to check each recommended dosage per vitamin, you may need to take it alone. These are also obtained in our foods
  •  Vegetarian is healthier for us as meat has a bad karmic effect on our bodies
  •  Eat tomatoes, ginger and garlic, cardamom, cloves, soybeans, wheatgrass on a regular basis
  •  Strive to follow a Sattvic diet, leads to clarity & equanimity of the mind
  •  Try avoiding any canned, frozen or processed foods, less toxins the safer to consume
  •  Avoid re-heating food, it loses it’s prana(energy source) which our bodies need
  •  Eat fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Eating ripe peaches a few times a week reduce breast cancer
  • Avoid carbonated drinks, junk foods, fast foods,  sugars & heavy meats
  • Follow a regulated daily routine from the time you wake to sleep, your body will adjust to the healthier way of living and become more balanced
  • Include exercise in your schedule, especially YOGA. Yoga is very beneficial for all types of illnesses and overall wellness
  • Drink plenty of water daily, the simplest way to help activate and cleanse our organs
  • Drinking Oolong tea daily reduces ovarian cancer up to 80% 
  • Practice Abhyanga therapies, self Ayurvedic daily massage with aromatherapy oils
  • Get some fresh air outside, our bodies need the oxygen. Best to walk through a nice forest or garden, trees naturally give off oxygen & great energy to help us heal
  • Grow your own little garden and eat organic. Eat or drink fresh carrots twice a day,include an apple to two a day, eat more mushrooms, drink lots of buttermilk
  • Eat Amla(Indian Gooseberry): Carries many vitamins and minerals vital for our bodies,it is the richest source of  vitamin C, helps hair loss and maintenance, good for skin diseases, urinary issues, cures anemia, liver disorders etc
  • Eat ripe fruit of GRAVIOLA, can also be taken in capsule & powder form
  • Reduce your stress levels, meditation before bed is highly effective. After showering, sit in a quiet room with a little lamp, play some meditation music, close your eyes and perform deep breathing exercises. Put your focus on one thing and forget everything else, it will take a little time to adjust
  • Repeat a daily mantra, the power of prayers are very important
  • Very important to never lose faith in god, he is within all of us. When we fear, doubt and act out, we just set ourselves up for failure, disappointment & further health issues. God is within us to realize we are capable of anything, anytime regardless of any illness or obstacle
  •  Self healing with positive reinforcement of our thoughts & actions

DETOXIFYING SHAKE TO SHAPE UP YOUR HEALTH







Have you ever wondered the secrets behind body detoxing or even weight loss? Well, here is a simple do it yourself remedy which will get you on your way to a healthier lifestyle.

Keep in mind, you don't need to change your diet, rather look at this as a health transition to reset your body. Try to throw out any junk food that may be tempting you though.

Keep track of your start date, your goals, what you blend together and how often.

 This is great to do year round & for sure during the beginning when the seasons change since our bodies do as well.

As a young woman, I would hope that my health is in tip top shape. Unfortunately I was suffering from insomnia, migraines, anxiety & stress problems for quite some time. I've been battling with skin problems for well over 15 years as well and I was lacking natural vitamins.

 I've been making myself this smoothie since the beginning of February-2013, one glass a day and the difference I feel in my body is amazing. After about a month of steadily drinking my shake is when I started to feel a significant boost in energy levels & my digestive system corrected itself. I know this is due to the detoxifying properties the fruits and vegetables have.


A month and half into my daily routine, I stated noticing the decrease with migraine headaches, my skin was more radiant, I now sleep like a baby(7-8 hours straight), this feels phenomenal!

The vitamins my body was lacking are now ideal, I  feel much more balanced, peaceful and focused.

For women who suffer from hormonal problems, menopause, stress or anxiety this will also help your body become harmonized. Not only am I doing this, but my Mom has joined in. She has noticed a significant difference with her previous acid reflux problems, gas, acidity, joint pains and lost over 10 pounds in the first two months.

Let's get started!

 All you need is a blender, fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and powders of your choice. I will give you a list of items that I personally use

Supplies: A good blender, not the ones that keep the pulp separate. This is the vital part of the smoothie.

Fruits: blueberries(handful), strawberries(4), blackberries(handful), raspberries(handful),one green apple, half a pear,half a mango, pineapple pieces, pomegranate seeds, watermelon, honeydew, half banana, papaya, figs,cranberries(handful), Goji berries(handful), grapefruit, kiwi

Veggies: 2 celery sticks, whole carrot, handful of kale, handful of spinach, handful of mushrooms for belly fat, 2 baby cucumbers, beetroot, cilantro, bit of broccoli and cauliflower

Other Ingredients: I sometimes add these in when I change it up, just need about half a tea spoon of the powders

Half lemon, 1 spoon of flaxseed, 1 piece of garlic,  few almonds, cashews, Ayurvedic powders of Manjishta for purifying the blood, Neem as a sugar control & to reduce heat in the system, Turmeric for the skin, liver & kidneys, Saffron for energy, Mint leaves for stomach disorders & a handful of Quinoa seeds

Add half glass of water and half of coconut water, blend and enjoy.

Cool It & Chill Out-Sitali Pranayama

What Is Sitali Pranayama?
 Sitali: The term Sitali derives from the Sanskrit "sita",cool.

 Pranayama- Breathing In The Yoga Process

 Pranayama literally means "controlling the life force", by which performing breathing techniques which allow us to directly influence our prana or life energy. This cleanses our nadis(energy channels) & activates our chakras(energy regions).




How To Perform:
  
Sit in a comfortable meditative posture with the spine straight. Curl the tongue and protrude it slightly past the lips. Inhale deeply and smoothly through the tongue and mouth, take your time. Exhale through the nose. Continue for 5 minutes. Then inhale — hold. Pull in the tongue. Exhale and relax. Repeat this for two more 5-minute periods.


The Benefits:

Sitali pranayama is a well known practice, it soothes and cools the spine in the area of the fourth, fifth and sixth vertebrae. This then regulates the sexual and digestive energies in the body. This breath is often used for reducing the heat in the body & head(pitta related),lowers fever, curbs anxiety,aids in digestion, great for rejuvenation. Detoxification is also attributed to this breath when practiced on a daily basis. Performing 40-50 breaths daily can extend your lifespan. Often the tongue may taste bitter at first,this is a sign of detoxification. As you continue to practice this technique, the taste of the tongue will conclusively become sweet.

Ayurvedic Deep Moisturizing & Healing Lotion-For Cracked & Dry Heels, Rough And Dry Skin


 
This Ayurvedic formulation is 100% pure and made from organic herbs of neem, turmeric, triphala, ginger and essential oil of sandalwood. It helps to give relief from dry, cracked skin and alleviates mild cases of eczema, sunburn and other skin disorders. 

Ingredients
Neem
Turmeric   
Ghee                      
Triphala                                       
Ginger                                     
Oil of sandalwood

Directions:                     
To be applied to affected areas of the body except the face. For more serious cases of dryness and mild skin disorders warm the ghee slightly and apply to affected areas. Leave the lotion on for approximately 10-15 minutes and wipe off any excess remaining. For those suffering with dry and cracked heels, apply on feet, cover with socks and leave it on all night.
